ISSF welcomes new members

New Orleans, 16 May 2013. The Board of the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has accepted membership applications from two new members during the organisation’s 17th Annual Conference (ISSF-17) which is being held in New Orleans, USA from 15-16 May.

The new members are:

        - Raajratna Metal Industries Ltd from India

        - Xinan Stainless (also known as South West Stainless) from China

The new members join Stowarzyszenie Stal Nierdzewna (SSN), a stainless steel development association (SSDA) from Poland, which was elected as a member of ISSF at the October 2012 Board Meeting. Total membership of ISSF now stands at 61 companies and organisations.

Raajratna Metal Industries Limited is based in Gujarat, India. It is producing stainless steel wires, bright bars, welding rods, spring wire and cold heading wire. It has an annual production of 30 000 metric tons. The company started production in 1990.

Sichuan Southwest Stainless Steel Company Ltd (Xinan Stainless) is a subsidiary of the Sichuan Jinguang Group, with headquarters in Chengdu. It has 10 ferro alloy furnaces in Sichuan, Qinghai and Yunnan, producing ferrochrome and nickel pig iron. There are two stainless steel production sites – one in Sichuan and one on Yunnan. In Yunnan they have only a melting shop, with a capacity of 800 000 tons of slabs. In Sichaun their melt-shop capacity is 600 000 tons, but they have a seven stand continuous hot rolling mill with enough capacity for both Sichuan and Yunnan meltshops and an annealing and pickling line with a capacity of 400 000 tons. A second annealing and pickling line is under construction at the Sichuan plant. At present Southwest has no cold rolling facilities, but they have ordered two new mills for delivery to the Sichuan plant in 2015. Cold rolling and some annealing and pickling is presently done on a toll conversion basis by other mills in China.
