Portuguese version of duplex brochure published

IMOA is pleased to announce that the ‘Practical Guidelines for the Fabrication of Duplex Stainless Steels’ brochure is now available in Portuguese, in addition to the existing seven languages.

Duplex stainless steels combine good corrosion resistance with high strength and ease of fabrication. There are many similarities in the fabrication of duplex stainless steels with other stainless steels but the high alloy content and strength of duplex grades mean that there are also some important differences. The brochure contains information on the chemical composition, metallurgy and corrosion resistance of these steels, together with a host of practical instructions covering cutting, forming, machining, welding and other fabrication processes.

Dr Nicole Kinsman, Technical Director, IMOA, commented: “The duplex brochure is one of the most popular publications on the IMOA website, with some 150,000 copies downloaded since the second edition was published just over four years ago. There is considerable interest in duplex stainless steel in the oil and gas industry in Brazil so we decided to make it available in Portuguese in addition to English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. I would like to thank ABINOX, the Brazilian Stainless Steel Development Association, and Villares Metals for their assistance with translating and proofing the brochure.”

The brochure can be found on the IMOA website at www.imoa.info/media_centre/downloads
