Report from the Stainless Steel in Automotive and Transportation seminar in Poland

Seminars dedicated to stainless steel for many years captured the audience’s attention and each of them was devoted to a specific main topic such as: duplex steels, water management, architecture, building and construction.

This year's seminar took place on the 4th of June in Poznan, as a part of the Metalforum Fair. Leading theme of the seminar was automotive and transportation sector, and the turnout was around 140 participants. There were also guests from abroad and representatives of Polish trade magazines.

Among the speakers there were representatives of the largest production companies in Europe: Philippe Rubbrecht from Aperam and Wolfgang Gebel from Outokumpu. The Polish transport industry was represented by Jaroslaw Górka from Schwarte-Milfor. Zbigniew Brytan - expert in stainless steel from Technical University of Silesia and Jan Myczkowski - President of the SSN, also shared with their knowledge and current stainless issues.

The seminar was an opportunity to get acquainted not only with the automotive industry in Poland, but also with the growing range of stainless steel applications. Currently, the transport industry represents about 11 % of global demand for stainless steel, and this share is rising.

The huge potential of stainless steel is perfectly utilized on the local market. Poland belongs to the group of “fastest growing economies” and stainless consumption per capita is already on the average European level (nearly tripled volume within last decade). The automotive industry and transportation are the fastest growing economies locally.

The SSN’s activity and seminars fits perfectly to the current market demand. For more information, please contact SSN (www.stalenierdzewne.pl)
